Uesugi Shrine is a historic shrine located in Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture, dedicated to Kenshin Uesugi, a famous general of the Warring States period, and successive generations of the Uesugi family, including Takayama Uesugi, known as the master of the Yonezawa domain.

The shrine pavilions are built in the traditional shrine architectural style, creating a solemn atmosphere. The shrine is especially famous for its beautiful azalea blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall, attracting many tourists. The Uesugi Shrine Treasury also houses valuable historical artifacts, including the national treasure "Uesugi Family Documents" and the single character for "love" engraved on the front of Naoe Kanetsugu's helmet.

Every year in late April, the "Uesugi Festival" is held, featuring traditional events such as a procession of warriors dressed as Lord Kenshin and a torchlight procession. The shrine also attracts many worshippers for annual events such as Hatsumode (New Year's visit to the shrine), Shichigosan (Seven-Five-Three-Three Festival), and prayers to ward off bad luck, and continues to play an important role as a center of faith and culture in the region.

The wedding ceremony is also a popular venue for Japanese-style weddings, and a prestigious Shinto ceremony in a historic shrine hall associated with the Uesugi family will be a special memory for couples who value tradition and want to celebrate their new beginnings.
