〜Marriage in Matsushima Sankeiden was built and opened in 1647 by the 100th monk Dosui of Zuiganji Temple as the mausoleum of Mitsumune, the grandson of Date Masamune. Sankeiden is also known as Otamaya. The building is in the hogata style with a thatched roof, and is surrounded on all sides by a rim with rails. It is one of the few remaining structures in the Tohoku region that is a formal three-roomed cemetery, the oldest such building in Miyagi Prefecture, and a nationally important cultural property that has been kept in storage for three and a half centuries. The main hall, Tahitei, was originally a pavilion used by Mitsumune as a summer residence during the Edo period (1603-1868) and has been dismantled and relocated. It is thought to have been built at the same time as the opening of the temple, and is a yakushi (medicine) store with a thatched roof. Together with the main hall, it is designated as a cultural asset by the town of Matsushima.
